Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence Police say an employee of Hastings Books, Music & Video is suspected of stealing more than $700 in merchandise in a two-week period starting in mid-February by making fraudulent returns, putting the money onto gift cards and spending them.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ Suspects may have broken into a rural Tonganoxie couple’s garage and taken items from their home on Wednesday morning, according to a report from the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s office.

More than $1,000 worth of jewelry and money were missing from the home. The suspects may be in custody in Raytown, Mo., as officers continue to investigate the case, according to the report.
