On the record

Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence Police officers arrested a 43-year-old Lawrence man early Saturday on charges of aggravated indecent liberties and aggravated burglary after a 13-year-old girl alleged that he assaulted her June 10, Sgt. Susan Hadl, a police spokeswoman, said Saturday.

The girl’s mother, who reportedly also recently found out about the allegation, called officers Friday night to their north-central Lawrence apartment, where the girl told officers that a male neighbor forced his way into the home and sexually assaulted her when she was home alone on June 10, Hadl said.

Officers then interviewed the suspect and arrested him. He remained Saturday night in the Douglas County Jail, according to jail records.

¢ Douglas County Sheriff investigators do not suspect any foul play in a death Friday at a residence in the south-central part of the county, Lt. Kari Wempe, a sheriff spokeswoman, said Saturday.
