Law enforcement report

Three Lawrence men were booked into the Douglas County jail Sunday on suspicion of aggravated battery in a case that sent a 22-year-old Lawrence man to the hospital. According to a report, the man had gone to an apartment in the 2000 block of West Sixth Street around 5 a.m. Sunday to see his ex-girlfriend when he was beaten and kicked by the group of men.

¢ A 33-year-old Lawrence man was arrested on charges of aggravated battery late Monday night after allegedly striking another man with a large rock.

Police Sgt. Michael Monroe said the incident began as an argument over money.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ A 20-year-old Omaha man had his digital camera, memory cards and zoom lens, valued at $2,100 total, stolen out of his car early Saturday morning while he slept at his camp site at the Wakarusa Music & Camping Festival at Clinton State Park.

¢ A 22-year-old Kansas University student had her 2001 Honda Civic valued at $9,000 stolen between 10 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday from outside her home in the 1300 block of New York Street.

¢ At least two auto burglaries were reported early Friday morning in the 900 block of Jana Drive. In one, a 25-year-old Lawrence woman had an iPod, compact discs and other items valued at roughly $2,100 total stolen between 12:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. In another, a 23-year-old man had $1,200 worth of compact discs stolen.

¢ A 1994 Chevrolet pick-up truck was stolen from Starfire Engineering & Tech, Inc., 2429 Iowa St. It happened between 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday, according to a report. It was valued at $3,800.

¢ The owner of Keller Strings, 727 Mass., reported that a “grungy” looking man and woman came into her store around 4:30 p.m. Friday, asked to see a violin, then switched the violin with one the man had in a knapsack, according to a report. She said she confronted them, got the violin back and then the couple left, leaving the old violin behind.

¢ Seven vehicles at Harris Auto Repair, 811 E. 23rd St., were burglarized between June 3 and June 4, according to a report released Monday. An unknown number of items were taken, but damage to the vehicles was listed at $3,500.
