Law enforcement report

¢ Thursday afternoon and evening, Kansas Highway Patrol troopers arrested two male teens from Wisconsin on drug-related charges, according to Douglas County Jail records. Troopers are helping conduct a security checkpoint and other patrols at the Wakarusa Music & Camping Festival at Clinton State Park.

Also Thursday evening, Douglas County Sheriff’s officers arrested three New Mexico men on charges of possessing marijuana with intent to sell it and other drug-related charges, according to jail records.

Also on Thursday between 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., troopers and officers with the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control arrested nine people on the charge of purchasing alcohol as a minor, according to jail records.

Injury accident

¢ An Independence, Mo., man suffered severe injuries when he rear-ended a semi-truck while driving westbound at about 60 mph early Thursday morning on the Kansas Turnpike about three miles east of the East Lawrence exit.

According to a Kansas Turnpike Authority report, Richard G. Meyer Jr., 44, was flown via helicopter to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. He wore his seat belt when he crashed into the truck, driven by Domingo Pineda, 39, Ottumwa, Iowa, who was not injured, according to the report.
