Law enforcement report

¢ A 46-year-old Lawrence man reported “aggressive panhandling” by two suspects around 6:15 p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of Massachusetts Street.

¢ A 21-year-old Lawrence man living in an apartment in the 2000 block of West Sixth Street was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Friday night for injuries he suffered when men came into his apartment and started punching him. He and his brother said they didn’t know the suspects, according to a police report.

¢ Police arrested a 34-year-old Lawrence woman early Sunday morning for endangering her 4-year-old daughter. According to a police report, a shopper at Dillons, 1015 W. 23rd St., saw the girl crying on a chair near the entrance to the store about 1:11 a.m. Sunday. Police came to the scene, and the girl was able to take them to her home about five blocks away, where police found the girl’s mother sleeping in a chair in the front room. Police are investigating whether she was under the influence of alcohol. The girl was taken into protective custody.

¢ Police arrested three Topeka men early Sunday morning on suspicion of stealing items from a home in the 4600 block of Harvard Road where they had been invited to a party. According to a report, they forced their way into bedrooms inside the home and took items including an iPod and a PlayStation. The items were recovered. Police said the suspects claimed to not remember anything about what happened.

¢ A 36-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Saturday for aggravated assault after he allegedly threatened a 20-year-old woman with a baseball bat around 10:40 p.m. at a home in the 1600 block of West Fourth Street. He was formally charged Monday in District Court.

¢ A 20-year-old Lawrence woman told police a 26-year-old man touched her inappropriately early Friday morning after she and a friend went back to the central Lawrence apartment of a man they’d met at a local bar.

Burglaries, thefts reported

¢ Someone entered a room in Haworth Hall on the Kansas University campus and removed four laptop computers valued at $8,000. It happened between 8 a.m. May 22 and 3 p.m. Wednesday but was not reported until Thursday, according to KU Police.

¢ Between 3 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, someone broke into a 22-year-old Kansas University student’s Honda Civic in the 1200 block of Mississippi Street and stole a Palm Pilot valued at $5,000 and 20 cartons of cigarettes valued at $800.

¢ A Lawrence man had two guitars valued at $1,000 total stolen between 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 6:30 p.m. Saturday from a home in the 700 block of Missouri Street.

¢ Someone stole a $150 railway-crossing sign from the tracks of the Midland Historic Railroad Depot in Baldwin. An employee noticed it missing early last week.

¢ A Kansas University student told police an unknown person withdrew money from his checking account using a computer three times between February and April. In all, he lost about $260.

¢ Police are investigating a fraudulent $5,030 check used to open a business account May 5 at Jayhawk Federal Credit Union, 2901 Lakeview Road.
