Five KU honorees enshrined

Former Kansas University women's basketball coach Marian Washington gives her induction speech at the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in Wichita. Washington was one of 14 people enshrined Saturday.

? In all, 14 individuals, including five with Kansas University ties, were enshrined into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday.

Jayhawks inducted were football quarterback Bobby Douglass, basketball player and coach Howard Engleman, basketball player Bill Hougland, football coach Jack Mitchell and basketball coach Marian Washington.

Also inducted: former Baker University football coach Charlie Richard, major league basetball player Luther “Dummy” Taylor of Oskaloosa, plus Darren Daulton, Natasha Matson Fife, Catherine Fox, Xavier McDaniel, Bill Morse, Bill Snyder and Otto Unruh. Richard, Taylor and Unruh are deceased.

The Hall now consists of 155 total enshrinees.
