Emergency calls

¢ Medics with Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical transported one person to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Saturday afternoon from the Lawrence Community Drop-in Center, 214 W. 10th St. The call was reported to medics that the patient suffered from heat exposure.

Battalion Chief Doug Green said the patient’s injuries were not critical. Green said he was not aware of any other heat-related injury calls on Saturday.

¢ Firefighters with Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical responded to a fire outside a home Saturday afternoon in the 1300 block of New York Street. Battalion Chief Doug Green said the fire burned the rim joist and threshold of the door and caused $600 worth of damage. The cause of the fire was undetermined, he said, and no one was injured.
