More guns seized near downtown club

Police seized three more handguns during the weekend from vehicles in a parking lot used by downtown club-goers bringing the total to six taken this month from the parking lot of Borders 700 N.H.

Shortly before midnight Saturday, officers patrolling the lot looked in a vehicle and saw a gun in a carrying case. About 2:45 a.m., they talked with a woman getting into the car. She denied the car was hers and said she was just picking it up for a man who had given her the keys and told her to pick him up in front of Last Call, 729 N.H. Police seized the gun, but no arrests were made.

The same night, officers saw two handguns protruding from under the front seats of a different vehicle in the parking lot. Officers eventually saw four men approach the car.

They arrested the driver, 22-year-old Charles A. Barker, of Kansas City, Kan., who police said was prevented from having a gun because of a felony charge against him. He was arrested on suspicion of an aggravated weapons violation, defacing the identification marks on a gun, and possession of marijuana.
