Law enforcement report

The Lawrence Police Department received 115 calls for service from Friday through Monday, including:

¢ 115 reports taken.

¢ Six burglaries.

¢ Four thefts.

¢ 18 non-injury accidents.

¢ One injury accident.


¢ A Lawrence woman and a child were injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon on Kansas Highway 10 at the Kansas Highway 7 interchange in Johnson County. Jessica Ratzlaff, 33, was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, and Tadeo Ratzlaff, 1, was taken to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. The hospitals had no listings for them on Tuesday.

The accident occurred when a 2004 Buick driven by Edith Kester, 80, Osawatomie, pulled in front of a 1998 Toyota sport utility vehicle driven by Jerome A. Ratzlaff, 38, Lawrence, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The drivers were not transported to hospitals.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ A 21-year-old Lawrence man reported to Lawrence Police that someone broke into a Kia Rio and took several items sometime late Friday or early Saturday. Taken were an Apple iPod and monitor, a softball bat, softball gloves, softballs, CDs and DVDs. Total losses and damage were listed at $1,529.

¢ Clothing and cameras were taken in a burglary sometime between Saturday and Monday from a residence in the 700 block of West 25th Street. The incident was reported by a Rantoul woman. Losses amounted to $1,090.

¢ Several items were taken when a 2003 Lincoln Aviator was burglarized sometime Thursday night or Friday morning while it was parked in the 1700 block of West 25th Street. Damage to the vehicle was listed at $800. Losses amounted to $1,638. A complete list of items taken wasn't available.

¢ Someone vandalized the Laundry Center, 1910 Haskell Ave., sometime Thursday or Friday. A police report stated that damage to glass and a storage room amounted to $1,000.

¢ An automobile burglary was reported to Lawrence Police Dec. 26. The vehicle was parked in the 700 block of Schwarz Road when someone broke in and took a Macintosh Notebook, Apple iPod, dishes, saws, digital cameras and other items with a total estimated value of $1,695.
