KU forum to discuss prophet cartoon riots

Kansas University will host a forum to discuss the international protests and violence sparked by the publication of cartoons in Danish media depicting the Prophet Mohammed from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday in the Gridiron Room of the Burge Union on KU’s campus.

Panelists include Tim Miller, professor and chair of religious studies; Ted Frederickson, professor of journalism; Moussa Elbayoumy, director of the Islamic Society of Lawrence; Dennis Anderson, managing editor of the Lawrence Journal-World; and Mike Hoeflich, John H. and John M. Kane Distinguished Professor of Law.

The event, titled “Respecting Religion/Exercising Freedom of the Press: Cultural Clashes on an International Stage,” is sponsored by the Office of International Programs.
