Injury accident

¢ A Bonner Springs man was injured after he was thrown from his motorcycle Sunday afternoon in Leavenworth County.

Jay Goss was flown to the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., after he landed on his head when he lost control of his motorcycle, according to a report from the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s office. A condition report was unavailable Tuesday.

Emergency Calls

¢ Firefighters and a property owner stopped a grass fire Tuesday afternoon from damaging a home northeast of Lawrence.

The blaze started after embers from burning garbage in a barrel caught the grass on fire. The fire burned three acres and a portion of the deck attached to a house at 1531 N. 2000 Road, said Doug Green, a captain with Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical.

Firefighters responded to the call at 3:18 p.m., and they had the fire under control after about 30 minutes, Green said.

The fire damaged a Suzuki all-terrain vehicle, the tires of a 1981 Honda Odyssey, the tires of a homemade motorized tricycle, part of a child’s playhouse and part of the deck attached to the house, Green said.
