Lawrence police arrested a 49-year-old Chanute man for allegedly masturbating Saturday evening while inside his vehicle at the parking lot of a Kansas University sorority.

An officer responded to a call at 6:47 p.m. of suspicious activity behind the Chi Omega house at 1345 West Campus Road. The officer then observed a seat reclined in the vehicle and the man inside, Sgt. Paul Fellers said.

The suspect was booked into Douglas County Jail on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior and disorderly conduct. He remained there Saturday night in lieu of $350 bond.
