Lions’ Stites, Barnoskie shine at league swims
Olathe ? It was a day of surprises and sicknesses for Lawrence High at the first day of the Sunflower League swimming and diving meet Friday at Olathe Prairie Trail Junior High.
Marcus Barnoskie and Zach Stites gave two of the best performances of the day for the Lions.
Barnoskie was 11th in the backstroke with a 1:04.86, and Stites finished 12th in 100 free with a time of 53.72.
Slowed by illness, Lawrence High’s Alex Boyer finished seventh in the 500 free with a 5:17.58, just .24 seconds out of sixth place.
Relay team member Tavis Sartin, who also was affected by sickness, did not participate in the meet.
“We’re still sitting good for tomorrow for reaching our goals,” Lawrence coach Ryan Adams said. “Everyone’s just going to have to stay really focused.”
Swimming finals and all diving will be held today.
