Law enforcement report

¢ A 75-year-old man and his pit bull fended off two attackers Tuesday night in North Lawrence.

Two men tried to grab the leash from the man at 8:45 p.m. at the corner of Third and Lincoln streets, according to a police report. During the attack, the dog owner was punched in the face, and one man swung a box knife at him and cut his jacket.

The dog then bit the man trying to grab the leash, and the two suspects fled.
