Men transported to hospital after two-vehicle accident
Authorities extracted one person late this afternoon from a vehicle that flipped over at 11th and Delaware streets near Hobbs Park in east Lawrence.
The person rescued from the overturned red Jeep Cherokee and the driver of a gray small pickup truck were transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, said Bill Stark, division chief for Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical.
A third person was in the Jeep, but he was not taken to the hospital.
The accident occurred just after 4 p.m., and Lawrence Police officers at the scene continued to investigate its cause.
Nicole Hermes was at the park with her son, 2-year-old Dominick Anderson, when she heard the accident.
“It just sounded like a loud car crash,” Hermes said.
