Law enforcement report

¢ No one was injured after a Lawrence man backed a vehicle into a house Saturday morning in the 600 block of Country Club Terrace, police said.

Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical workers helped board up the living room of a house at 603 Country Club Terrace at 10 a.m. after the picture window, part of the wall and a decorative brick structure were damaged, said Battalion Chief Rob Kort.

Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Fellers said Phillip Endacott, 72, was backing westbound from his driveway at 602 Country Club Terrace when he eventually struck the home across the street. Fellers said no citations were issued at the scene. The reporting police officer noted that improper backing of the 1996 Oldsmobile contributed to the accident, Fellers said.

Endacott could not be reach for comment Saturday.

¢ Lawrence police arrested a Lawrence man Friday night on a charge of committing indecent liberties with a child. According to jail records, the man remained in the Douglas County Jail on Saturday night.

¢ Lawrence police arrested an 18-year-old Lawrence man on suspicion of auto burglary Saturday morning after someone in the 3600 block of West Brush Creek Drive called police about a suspicious person trying to open door handles, Fellers said.

Officers received the call at 9 a.m. of a man checking door handles and eventually entering one vehicle in the neighborhood, he said. Officers then found the suspect near Kasold Drive and Clinton Parkway, Fellers said.

The man was booked into the Douglas County Jail and remained there Saturday night in lieu of $1,500 bond. Fellers said officers could not determine if anything was taken from the vehicle.

Injury accident

¢ A Lawrence woman was taken to Newman Hospital in Emporia on Saturday afternoon after a rollover accident on Interstate 35 near Matfield Green, according to a report from the Kansas Turnpike Authority.

Chelsea Magruder, 20, lost control of her 2005 Ford as it hydro-planed on the wet road and struck a post. The northbound vehicle then went into a ravine, rolled over and came to rest on its top at 2:40 p.m., according to the report.

Magruder wore her seat belt. She complained of neck pain and was taken in an ambulance to the hospital.
