KU team in top 10 at tax competition

A Kansas University School of Business graduate student team had a top 10 finish in the Deloitte Tax Case Study Competition during the fall semester.

Ten teams emerged from a field of more than 40 colleges and universities competing at regional sites this fall. The KU team was one of four to receive an honorable mention award. The team’s adviser is Allen Ford, a distinguished teaching professor of accounting at KU.

Teams competed by preparing a solution for a hypothetical corporate taxpayer in five hours. The only reference guides available were the Internal Revenue Code and Treasury Regulations.

Each KU team member received a $100 award, and KU’s School of Business received $1,000.

The competition was sponsored by Deloitte Foundation, a nonprofit arm of Deloitte & Touche USA LLP.
