Injury accidents

¢ Three people were taken to local hospitals Sunday after a two-car wreck on U.S. Highway 24-40 in Leavenworth County, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported.

According to the report, a 1998 Honda Civic driven by Tonganoxie resident Brian Eveland, 16, was traveling west on the highway when a Chevrolet vehicle going south on 158th Street pulled out in front of it.

Eveland was injured and taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, while two of the passengers in the Chevrolet – Betty Grisham, 84, and Clyde Grisham, 83, both of Basehor – were taken to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. The severity of their injuries is unknown.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 37-year-old Kristina Hinkle, Lee’s Summit, Mo., was not injured.
