Law enforcement report

¢ An employee for a tree-trimming company was flown to a Kansas City, Mo., hospital Tuesday afternoon after getting his hand stuck in a tree chipper.

The man, whose name and age were not released, was flown to St. Luke’s Hospital around 3 p.m. after Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical officials responded to the incident at 31st Street and Haskell Avenue.

The injuries were not life-threatening, officials said, but the injuries required a specialist outside of town.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ Someone broke into the principal’s office this week at Basehor-Linwood Middle School, 215 Park St., Linwood, and made off with a Palm Pilot, according to a police report from the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office.

The report says that between 4 p.m. Friday and roughly 7 a.m. Monday, an unidentified person pried open a window leading into principal Mike Boyd’s office.

“The file cabinet had been entered, but nothing else could be found missing or damaged,” a police report says.

Injury accidents

¢ A car driven by a 36-year-old Lecompton woman flipped Tuesday along East 175 Road in rural Douglas County, severely injuring the woman.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office officials said the woman was flown by helicopter to St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., after her car flipped about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday night.

She was wearing a seat belt, and was able to get out of the car herself.

The cause of the wreck was still under investigation late Tuesday.
