Law enforcement report

¢ Johnson County sheriff’s officers found a Kansas City, Mo., man dead Sunday afternoon in a private field near Interstate 35 near Gardner.

Officers do not suspect criminal activity, as they think the man, identified as 86-year-old Roy Ranck, became disoriented while driving and got his vehicle stuck in the mud. He tried to walk back to the road but fell while crossing a ditch and struck his head, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Condition updates

¢ An update on Willie Paul, 22, Lawrence, was not available Sunday night from Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., a nursing administrator said. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office identified Paul this weekend as the man ejected from his vehicle Friday afternoon on Kansas Highway 10 one mile east of Lawrence.
