KU holiday concerts planned tonight

For holiday music lovers, there are two concerts tonight at Kansas University covering a broad range of musical styles.

KU’s Collegium Musicum will perform “Early Music for the Holiday Season” at 7:30 p.m. at Bales Organ Recital Hall. The program will feature the Vocal Collegium Musicum, an auditioned choir of 14 students. The Instrumental Collegium Musicum, directed by Paul Laird, includes one singer and nine instrumentalists who play reproductions of instruments in use during the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque periods. This concert is free and open to the public.

The fifth annual Jazz Vespers concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Lied Center. The audience will hear such holiday favorites as “Good King Wenceslas,” “Angels We Have Heard On High,” “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” and more.

Jazz Vespers tickets are $12.50 for general admission and $10 for students and senior citizens. Call 864-2787 or 864-7469 for more information.
