Humanities lecture speakers announced

National Public Radio commentator Andrei Codrescu will kick off Kansas University’s 2006-07 Humanities Lecture Series this month.

Codrescu’s lecture will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 28 in Woodruff Auditorium at the Kansas Union on the KU campus. The series lectures are free.

Codrescu, a distinguished professor at Louisiana State University, has written many works, including the 2006 book “New Orleans, Mon Amour,” a collection of short essays.

¢ Somalian author Nuruddin Farah, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 in Woodruff Auditorium.

¢ Evolutionary biologist and author Richard Dawkins, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Lied Center.

¢ Social and cultural historian Nancy Cott, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 in Woodruff Auditorium.

¢ Philosopher and author Kwame Anthony Appiah, 7:30 p.m. March 1 in the Kansas Union Ballroom.

¢ KU professor of Slavic languages and literature Maria Carlson, 7:30 p.m. April 10 in Woodruff Auditorium.
