Dole Institute honors students for service

The Dole Institute of Politics at Kansas University has announced this year's list of 40 recipients of the Senator Robert J. Dole Public Service Scholarship. The program recognizes students who have demonstrated involvement in volunteer community and public service.

KU students who received the award are Kate Bird, accounting, El Dorado; Lacie Reed, physical therapy, Burlington; Kathryn Sanders, mechanical engineering, Lenexa; Benjamin Terwilliger, liberal arts and sciences, Olathe; Christie Jones, elementary education, Overland Park; Andrew Demo, engineering, and Stephanie Thompson, elementary education, Shawnee; Zachary Borth, humanities and genetics, Arlington; and Carnez Williams, journalism, Wichita.

Students from Franklin and Jefferson counties attending other universities also received the award. They are Ashley Guenther, pre-veterinary medicine, Kansas State University, Ottawa; Molly Patton, Wellsville; and Cody Heston, pre-medicine, Washburn University, Oskaloosa.
