A boat motor valued at $4,000 has been stolen from the Kansas University crew team out of a storage area at Burcham Park, marking the second time this week that the team was robbed.

When team members reported to practice Wednesday morning at the park, they found the motor had been removed from a 10-foot john boat inside a secured storage area, according to a report.

The previous morning when the team reported to practice, a different motor boat had been removed from the area but was recovered later in the morning at Riverfront Park.

Both boats are used by the crew team, a club team with roughly 40 male and female members. The items were taken from a storage area also used by KU’s women’s rowing team.
