Swapan Chakrabarti will read from and sign copies of his novel, “My American Brother,” from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Oread Books in the Kansas Union.

“My American Brother,” a first novel published by Xlibris, explores the cultural integration of international students based on the author’s experiences and those of others he has witnessed in his career of more than 20 years in American academia. “My American Brother” is the story of a friendship between Raja, a college student from India, and Tom, his American roommate.

Chakrabarti, associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science, came to the U.S. as an international graduate student in 1979 and later became a naturalized citizen.

The author will donate 25 percent of his royalty from book sales to the KU Endowment Fund.
