Law enforcement report

¢ A woman who reported an alleged rape Saturday in Douglas County told Douglas County Sheriff’s investigators that she knew the suspect, a department spokesperson said Sunday.

Lt. Keri Wempe said the woman told investigators an acquaintance assaulted her after she arrived at his house early Saturday. He became aggressive and then held her against her will until she eventually left the house later that morning, Wempe said.

Investigators interviewed the woman at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where doctors were treating her after the alleged assault. Officers continued investigating Saturday night at the scene of the alleged rape.

Sheriff’s officers arrested a 47-year-old Douglas County man Saturday night in connection with the alleged assault. He was later booked into Douglas County Jail on charges of rape, battery and criminal restraint.

His bond was set at $150,500. Wempe could not say if the man had a history of violent crime.
