KU investigating theft of equipment

Kansas University police are looking for suspects in the disappearance of more than $15,000 in audio-visual and computer equipment from campus in recent days.

Capt. Schuyler Bailey said it’s not known whether the thefts are related.

“They were taken over the same time frame, but that’s the only common element” in addition to the similar types of equipment, Bailey said.

¢ Between March 20 and March 27, someone stole two Dell Optiplex computers valued at $2,075 from two classrooms in Summerfield Hall.

¢ Between March 17 and March 27, someone stole two video projectors valued at $7,400 total from two rooms in Strong Hall.

¢ Between March 15 and March 27, someone stole a ceiling-mounted projector, a microphone and a computer motherboard valued at $4,400 total from a Strong Hall classroom.

¢ Between March 17 and March 21, someone stole a wireless microphone set, wireless mouse, remote controls and batteries valued at $2,358 from Wescoe Auditorium.

Also, during the same time frame someone tried to steal a ceiling-mounted video projector from the Kansas Union and caused $200 in damage.
