Biofuel-powered truck to be on display today

A fire truck that runs on biofuel – cashews, corn, pumpkin seeds, you name it – is scheduled to be on display today in Lawrence.

Seth Warren and Tyler Bradt, professional whitewater kayakers from Missoula, Mont., are driving the truck across the country for the Oil & Water Project of the Biofuels Education Coalition, an organization founded to raise awareness of alternative fuel sources. The truck has a built-in vegetable-oil press and “waste vegetable processor.”

With the help from some corporate sponsors, the duo will drive the truck through 50 cities between now and June to give presentations on alternative fuel sources and raise money for biofuel education.

The truck will be on display outside Sunflower Outdoor & Bike Shop, 804 Mass., but an exact time of the demonstration hadn’t been set as of Friday.
