KU announces enrollment increase

Kansas University officials announced today that overall enrollment at KU increased by 34 students, but enrollment was down at KU’s Edwards campus in Johnson County.

According to 20th-day enrollment figures, KU has a fall 2005 enrollment of 29,624, a 0.1 percent increase in the record set in fall 2004, KU officials said.

Enrollment at the KU Medical Center reached 2,690, an increase of 80 students, or 3.1 percent, from the fall 2004 figures.

However, enrollments at the Lawrence and Edwards campuses were down 46 students, or 0.2 percent, to 26,934.

KU officials said the drop occurred at the Edwards campus “due to continuing adjustment to nonresident fee increases.”

Officials reported that the number of Kansas residents attending the two campuses increased 169 students to 18,791.

The number of Kansans attending KUMC increased by 39 students, or 2.2 percent.
