Self visits Minnesota star

Kansas University men’s basketball coach Bill Self was in Bloomington, Minn., on Wednesday to watch a workout of Cole Aldrich, a 6-foot-11, 245-pound junior center from Jefferson High.

Aldrich made an unofficial visit to the University of Minnesota’s campus Saturday, and, wearing a Gophers’ jersey, watched Minnesota down Colorado State, 56-24, in football. He is also considering North Carolina.

Self was in the home of Darrell Arthur, 6-9, 220-pound senior from Dallas, on Tuesday. It was Arthur’s first in-home of the recruiting process.

“The in-home visit with Bill Self went well,” South Oak Cliff coach James Mays told Shay Wildeboor of rivals.com. “Actually, the visit went extremely well. The staff did a great job during their visit with Darrell.”

Arthur, who, like Aldrich, will attend Late Night in the Phog on Oct. 14, also is considering Texas, Baylor, Indiana, North Carolina and Southern Methodist.

“I can tell you that Darrell is looking forward to his visit to Kansas,” Mays said. “Darrell really likes coach Self and the staff, and has a great deal of respect for the Kansas program.

“Kansas has a great shot with Darrell.”
