Lawrence High girls second in Emporia

? Kelly Renfro finished third overall in a time of 12 minutes, 43 seconds, leading the Lawrence High girls cross country team to a second-place finish Saturday at the Emporia Invitational at Jones Park.

Overland Park Aquinas won the girls half of the meet with 57 points. The Lions were second with 80 points.

Brianna Di Iorio and Alissa Freeman added top-20 finishes for LHS. Di Iorio was 16th with a time of 13:25, and Freeman followed her in 17th in 13:28.

A trio of top-10 finishers led the LHS boys to a second-place finish. Matt Riley finished sixth in 17:40, while Kyle Morgison took eighth in 17:41. Dylan Hedges followed in ninth in 17:42.

Emporia won the team title with 63 points, with the Lions (73), Manhattan (98), Olathe South (105) and Overland Park Aquinas (110) completing the top five.
