‘The Witch of Lok Island’ offers fun performance for kids, adults
The Seem-To-Be Players’ weekend production of “The Witch of Lok Island” was a very nice family show. It is the story of a young girl named Bella (Amelia Weil) who is treated unfairly by her village. Her future husband, Houarn (Jacob Leet), goes looking for treasure and is captured by the Witch of Lok Island (Jennifer Glenn). Bella goes to save Houarn and destroys the witch, winning the respect of the village.

The play provided lots of opportunities for all age groups to be involved. There were some very cute little water nymphs and even some grown-ups. Glenn as the wicked witch absolutely stole the show and was very frightening. The beautiful witch counterpart (Nicole Olson) also had a very strong presence, and the two of them made for a very terrifying duo.
The set was very basic but fit the part of a simple fishing village. The music was very well-done. It was neat to see kids playing the instruments instead of adults. The music definitely added to the spooky atmosphere of the show. The costumes were wonderful. It was a nice effect to see all of the water nymphs sparkling whenever they moved, and the rest of the costumes made the story much more believable.
Overall, “The Witch of Lok Island” was a pleasing performance. It was very enjoyable for kids, and adults can get a kick out of it as well. Even teens will find it amusing. The actors involved have succeeded in putting on a wonderfully spooky Halloween show.
