Judge approves protection-from-stalking order against Schreiner

A judge today approved a Lawrence woman’s request for a protection-from-stalking order against Free State High School teacher and boys’ basketball coach Jack L. Schreiner.

Schreiner has been charged in municipal court with peeping into the woman’s window Oct. 18 at her home. The day after the incident, the woman, 47, received a temporary restraining order in Douglas County District Court, after it was noted she had information from a police report that Schreiner admitted doing the same thing two other times.

“He did say he had been there more than once,” said Police Capt. David Cobb.

During this afternoon’s hearing in district court, Judge Jack Murphy finalized the restraining order. It prevents Schreiner from having any contact with the woman for one year.

School district officials announced Friday that Schreiner had been suspended from his teaching and coaching job with pay. Neither Schreiner nor his attorney have commented on the case.
