New York ? Britney Spears has dashed some deep-pocketed fans’ hopes of snagging one of her bras.

She raised thousands of dollars for hurricane victims by auctioning personal items on eBay, but yanked a jewel-encrusted bra that was drawing high bids.

In a Web posting, Spears said she was concerned fans were confused about which bra was up for grabs. She says the bra she had offered was one she wore during her HBO special, but not the one worn during a performance of “… Baby One More Time.”

“I feel the correct thing to do is remove this item from the auction because I don’t want any of you to feel misled,” the 23-year-old said in a posting on her Web site Saturday. Bids had risen to more than $47,000.

Earlier, the bra had been removed because it violated eBay’s policy against selling used undergarments. The bra was temporarily reinstated after eBay decided that as memorabilia, it could slide.
