How they scored

FIRST QUARTER

No scoring.

SECOND QUARTER

3:48 – Scott Webb 28 field goal. A play-action pass to Mark Simmons resulted in a 50-yard gain, moving KU into prime field position. The drive failed to move enough after that, forcing Webb to kick the first points of the game. (Kansas 3, Kansas State 0).

THIRD QUARTER

10:54 – Jeff Snodgrass 38 field goal. A four-play, minus-seven yard drive almost put the Wildcats out of field-goal range after KSU recovered a fumble just 14 yards from the end zone. Runs for losses of four, one and two yards made Snodgrass’s boot a little farther, but he still nailed it. (Kansas 3, Kansas State 3).

FOURTH QUARTER

14:55 – Jordy Nelson 8 pass from Allan Evridge. K-State moved the ball downfield effectively for the first time all game, going 75 yards mainly through the air. A 15-yard facemask penalty on Tim Allen propelled KSU even further, and once inside the 10, Evridge floated one to Nelson, who dove in on the right side for six. Snodgrass kick. (Kansas State 10, Kansas 3).

3:39 – Kansas State safety. After a KU player ran into Charles Gordon as he was attempting to fair-catch a punt, the ball rolled to the one-yard line before KSU downed it. After a one-yard sneak and incomplete pass, Luke was knocked off balance by Tearrius George, and fell down in the end zone for the sack. (Kansas State 12, Kansas 3).
