Defense appropriations bill may benefit school

Kansas University could receive $25 million in this year’s Defense appropriations bill, U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts’ office announced Friday.

The bill, currently before the full Senate for debate, is expected to come to a vote this week.

It includes $25 million to Kansas University for SensorNet, a chemical and biological agent sensor network. KU is contributing to the development of a rail test bed in Kansas City.

Roberts is chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
