Teen pleads no contest in stabbing death

November 12, 2005

— A Liberal teenager has pleaded no contest in the stabbing death of another teenager last August in a dispute over noise at a party.

Eddie Nunez, 18, pleaded no contest Thursday to second-degree murder in the Aug. 1 stabbing death of Bobby Joe Vega, 19, also of Liberal. He is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 15.

Under the plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend that the judge follow sentencing guidelines.

Nunez stabbed Vega seven times behind a house where a party was being held, prosecutors said.
