New Urbanism subject of community meetings

Community members will have a chance to learn more about the concept of New Urbanism at three upcoming Lawrence Rotary Club meetings.

City Commissioner Sue Hack and Planning Commissioner Marguerite Ermeling will give an introduction to the development concept at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Hereford House, 4931 W. Sixth Street.

Lawrence Developer Bo Harris and architect Michael Treanor will give presentations on Nov. 14 and Nov. 21, also at 12:30 p.m. at Hereford House. Harris is the developer of a downtown condominium project that uses New Urbanism concepts, and Treanor has proposed a New Urbanism neighborhood near Sixth Street and Wakarusa Drive.

The presentations will be part of the Rotary Club meeting, but Hack said nonmembers can attend the presentation portion of the meeting.
