Creswell sentenced to one year of probation after Moon Bar plea agreement

One day after former Kansas University basketball player J.R. Giddens was placed on probation for a brawl outside the Moon Bar, another man involved in the altercation received a similar sentence.

Jeremiah Creswell appeared in Douglas County District Court today, where he waived his right to a trial and entered a no-contest plea to a charge of battery.

In exchange for the plea, prosecutors agreed not to file any more charges against Creswell in connection with the May 19 knife fight in the parking lot of the bar, which injured six people.

Prosecutors said earlier that Creswell hit Giddens first inside the bar — a charge Creswell still denies but agreed to plead no contest to in order to avoid the possibility of more serious charges being filed.

“It’s real frustrating,” Creswell said following the sentencing. “I wish there would’ve been justice.”

Judge Stephen Six placed Creswell on probation for one year, which he will be allowed to serve in Johnson County.
