Emporia ? Lawrence High opened its girls swimming and diving season Tuesday with a fourth-place finish in the seven-team Emporia Invitational.

Mallory West and Meredith West placed 1-2 in diving with scores of 236.85 and 193.55 respectively. Kristin Longanecker took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:20.20), and Melissa Little was third in the 200 freestyle (2:07.98).

The Lions are off until March 29, when they will entertain Shawnee Mission North and Blue Valley.
