Lawrence can’t stop Miege down low

? A bigger Roeland Park Miege squad made it difficult on defense for Lawrence High’s girls in a 66-30 loss Friday night at the Shawnee Heights tournament.

Despite the Lions’ switching into a zone defense, Miege’s top two post players still combined for 29 points.

LHS coach Kristin Mallory said she was not happy with the Lions’ effort.

“They stood around a lot and didn’t try to control the pace against a good team,” Mallory said.

“It could possibly have been due to two days off for snow days.”

LHS will be without Sydney Wilson and Sarah Johnson, who will be taking the ACT, in their final tournament game today against K.C. Wyandotte. Weather postponed Thursday’s tournament games, which have not been rescheduled.
