Lions outlast KCC

December 4, 2005

— Chance Riley scored 12 points, and Tyler Knight added 10 as the Lawrence High boys basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 47-40 victory Saturday against Kansas City Christian. The Lions used a big second frame to take a 29-20 halftime lead. While it struggled to find its offense in the second half, LHS continued to play sound defense and never was seriously threatened.

The Lions will return to action Thursday against Pembroke Hill (Mo.) in the first round of the Blue Valley Shootout.

Prairie Village - Offense wasn't a problem for the Lawrence High girls basketball team during Saturday night's season opener. Unfortunately for the Lions, they never could stop Kansas City Christian's potent inside-out attack.

Kansas City Christian's Kristin Knoth dominated in the post, scoring 28 points, while her teammates took care of matters on the perimeter by draining 10 three-pointers.

LHS (0-1) returns to action Monday in its home debut against Kansas City Washington.
