Haskell Indian Nations University officials on Monday learned that Daryl Dewayne Jack and his 4-year-old daughter, Maliah, had died in a recent car accident near Butte, Mont.
Jack's wife, Willow, his son, Nakeezaka, and Willow's sister, Lela Abrahamson, are recovering from injuries sustained in the Aug. 8 accident. Jack died Aug. 10.
A 2005 Haskell graduate, Jack was an accomplished fancy dancer. He planned to attend Idaho State University in the fall.
According to the Idaho State Journal newspaper, the accident's cause remains under investigation. It appears, however, that speed was a factor. None of the passengers in Jack's pickup truck were wearing seat belts.
Relief-fund memorials may be sent to: Pocatello Railroad Federal Credit Union, account number 713873, or to the Jacks, P.O. Box 208, Fort Hall, Idaho 83203.
