The Campanile at Kansas University had a new addition this spring.
A crew from Midland Marble and Granite in Independence, Mo., added the name of a former KU student to the memorial.
The name of Raleigh C. Bowlby Jr. was added to the Campanile memorial list of KU graduates killed during WWII. The name was left off the memorial when it was built. Midland Marble & Granite L.L.C, Independence, Mo., installed the new plaque.
Bowlby was one semester short of graduating with a business degree when he enlisted in the Army in February 1941. He was killed in action April 8, 1944, near Cassino, Italy.
