Former KCK mayor honored by School of Ed

The former mayor of Kansas City, Kan., has been awarded the 2005 Alumni Distinguished Service Award from the Kansas University School of Education.

Carol Marinovich, who stepped down in May after 10 years as mayor, received the award during KU commencement activities.

Marinovich received her master's degree in education from KU in 1981. She is a former coordinator of special education for the Kansas City, Kan., school district.
