Topeka ? Lawrence High’s Tommy Johnson placed second Saturday at a high school boys tennis meet at Highland Park High. Johnson’s record at No. 1 singles was 3-2.

Also for LHS, Thomas Nieto was 2-3 at No. 2 singles, Jacob Gabe and Anthony Frei were 1-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Shane Billig and Curtis Wakeman were 0-5 at No. 2 doubles.

“We used this meet to get some varsity experience for several of our guys,” LHS coach Dick Wedel said. “It turned out that the doubles were pretty overmatched.”

LHS will play host Thursday to Manhattan.
