Leavenworth ? The Lawrence High girls tennis team won one, lost one and tied one in a quad Wednesday in Leavenworth.

The Lions beat Olathe Northwest, 3-1, lost to Shawnee Mission North, 3-1, and tied Leavenworth, 2-2.

“It could be better,” Lawrence High coach Dick Wedel said, “but it could be a lot worse.”

The Lions had singles victories from Amy Bullerman, Lauren Kelly and Meredith Bush, and doubles victories from Kelly and Bullerman and two from Katie Robertson and Shannon Wanna.

“The word for the day is footwork,” Wedel said. “We played too many points looking like the deer in the headlights.

“We did some things pretty well, and there are things we need to keep working on.”

The Lions return to action today at Blue Valley Northwest.
