LHS soccer falls to SM East, 2-0

? Lawrence High’s boys soccer team played Shawnee Mission East to a scoreless tie for a half before falling to the Lancers, 2-0, Thursday night at Shawnee Mission Sports Complex.

“They’re a really good soccer team,” LHS coach David Platt said. “We had some chances. We didn’t get some finishes on them, but we were in the game.”

LHS sweeper Zach Colwell, defensive stopper Dustin Billings and defensive midfielder Pharouk Hussein were cited for outstanding play.

The Lions (2-12) will play host to Olathe South on Tuesday at the Youth Sports Inc. fields.

The LHS junior-varsity team (5-8-1) also lost, 2-0, to SM East. Taylor Bussinger was lauded.
