Law enforcement report

Injury accident

  • A driver told police his foot slid off the brake pedal and onto the gas, causing him to strike another vehicle Sunday at 10th and Kentucky streets. James F. Otten, 50, Lawrence, was traveling east on 10th Street about 10:30 a.m. Sunday when he lost control of his 2001 Toyota Tundra and struck a 1989 Buick Century driven by William D. Young, 48, Lawrence. Young was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A 42-year-old man said more than $12,000 in jewelry and cash was taken Feb. 3 from his home in the 300 block of Stockade Street. Missing items include wedding rings, a gold Seiko watch and $3,800 cash.
  • Someone forged a $1,340 check Jan. 23 at Radio Shack, 711 W. 23rd St. The check belonged to a Wakarusa woman.
