Lawrence Police said Thursday that in the past 24 hours they’d handled:

  • 231 calls
  • 19 reports
  • three burglaries
  • two thefts
  • two noninjury accidents
  • five forgeries

Condition report

  • Sara Anne Driessel, the Kansas University freshman injured in Oct. 24 after falling from the second-story roof of a friend’s home at 1045 Tenn., was listed in good condition Thursday at University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • Someone stole a green 1992 Ford Explorer valued at $3,000 from Vantuyl Motors, 542 Colo. The theft happened between 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday, according to a report.
  • Capitol Federal Savings, 1046 Vt., lost $9,500 after accepting a cashier’s check that turned out to be fraudulent, according to a police report. A man received the check after selling a vehicle online with eBay and deposited it in his account Oct. 12. He withdrew the money the next day, before bank officials realized the check was a fraud.
